Charlie the Gray Fox was having a tough time learning a new path through the forest; he kept getting turned around and felt discouraged. Some of the older animals snickered, suggesting he just wasn't fast enough.
Lily immediately put herself by Charlie’s side. "Don't listen to them, Charlie," she encouraged, her voice firm. "We are a team. We'll run the path slower, together, until you know it by heart. A friend doesn't leave when things get hard."
She stayed with him, step for step, patiently waiting when he got confused. They practiced together until Charlie could run the path perfectly.
Later, Charlie thanked her. "You could have run ahead and been first, Lily."
