🦗 Meet Gus the Grasshopper
Gus the Grasshopper is the backyard's joyful reminder that we must balance fun with **preparation** and **foresight**. While he loves to leap and play music with Cosmo the Cricket, Gus has learned the importance of working hard today to ensure safety and provision for tomorrow.
He spends his time near the tall grasses, where he practices his jumps and sometimes helps Arnie the Ant with lighter tasks. Gus is an energetic and learning creature; he is committed to teaching younger friends the lesson that planning is a way to honor God and care for our future.
In every story, Gus reminds us that diligent planning leads to success and that true wisdom involves getting ready for the next season.
📖 Gus’s Favorite Verse
Gus chose this verse because it highlights the blessing that comes from careful, diligent effort:
"The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty." — Proverbs 21:5 (ESV)
Gus has learned that spending time preparing now is the best way to enjoy peace later.
🦗 Gus’s Story Corner
Summer was fading, and Beatrix the Beaver was busy securing her lodge for the cooler weather. She asked Gus if he was saving up extra seeds and finding a dry place to stay.
Gus initially hesitated. "It's so much more fun to play the fiddle, Beatrix. The sun is still warm!"
Beatrix kindly pointed to a small, worn patch of grass. "The sun is a gift, Gus, but the winter will come. If you spend a little time now, you can play all winter without worry. **Preparation** gives you peace."
Taking her wisdom to heart, Gus spent the next few days working diligently. He found a cozy spot under a large root and gathered enough seeds to last. When the first frost arrived, Gus was tucked safely away, playing a quiet, contented song. He realized that a little bit of foresight had saved him from a lot of stress.
That’s Gus. Learning that wise planning allows us to leap for joy in every season.
